LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University Athletics continues to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to academic success, as reflected in the recent release of the NCAA Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores. Once again, Alcorn stands proudly without any NCAA penalties related to APR performance, marking an impressive milestone of 10 consecutive years in full compliance.
 
The latest APR data highlights significant achievements across multiple programs.
 
Ten Alcorn teams recorded scores of 950 or higher, underscoring a strong culture of academic accountability and achievement among student-athletes. Even more notably, five programs earned a perfect APR score of 1000, reflecting flawless academic progress and retention.
 
E. D'Wayne Robinson, Director of Athletics for Alcorn, praised the collective efforts of student-athletes, coaches, and academic support staff in sustaining this level of excellence.
 
"I'd like to congratulate all of our student-athletes," stated Robinson. "It's clear that they have shown a sincere commitment to academics being a priority. I also commend our coaches for their hard work and dedication to ensuring our student-athletes remain focused on their academic success.
 
"Here at Alcorn, we take pride not only in building champions, but scholars as well."
 
Robinson went on to extend special recognition to key contributors behind the scenes.
 
"I'd also like to share a special commendation to Dr. Jivanna Smith and Mrs. Angel Brooks-Thomas for their extraordinary work toward the success of our student-athletes in this area," Robinson added.
 
The NCAA APR is a key metric used to track the academic progress and eligibility of student-athletes.
 
Maintaining strong APR scores is essential for programs to remain eligible for postseason competition and avoid penalties. Alcorn's sustained success in this area reflects a comprehensive approach that prioritizes both athletic performance and academic achievement.
