JACKSON, Miss. – The Alcorn State University Lady Braves (2-6, 0-1 SWAC) suffered their first conference loss of the season to Jackson State University, 2-1, on Friday evening.
Jackson State's (2-7, 1-0 SWAC) Kiana Tulloch scored the first goal of the first match off an assist from Karime Antonio Lopez at the 30-minute mark, 1-0. Alcorn mounted an offensive leading to
Samara Nunn scoring an unassisted goal in the 34th minute of the match knotting the score, 1-1.
In the second half of play, the Lady Braves fought valiantly but yielded a goal to JSU's Kyla Gomez at the 53rd minute, 2-1.
ASU ended the match with three shots to the Lady Tigers' 15.
Paula Argelaguet was in the goal for Alcorn and picked up the loss with six saves on the night. Jackson State's Jordan Hamilton took the win while allowing one goal.
The Lady Braves will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 24 as they travel to face Southern University.
