TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Byron Joshua had the hot hand for Alcorn State University (4-15, 3-3 SWAC) as he led the way for the Braves to victory over Florida A&M University, 76-67.
    Alcorn dueled with FAMU for much of the game but went into the locker room at halftime leading the Rattlers, 39-32. When the Braves came out they controlled much of the second half growing their lead to as many as 19 with 13:18 left. Alcorn outscored Florida A&M in second chance points, 13-6, and in the paint, 40-16. The Braves also collected 32 rebounds compared to FAMU's 29.
    Joshua was the court general for the day as he scored 16 points and dished out six assists.
Stephen Byard followed him with 12 points and a team-high nine rebounds.
Jeremiah Gambrell tallied 12 points and snatched up four steals.
    ASU went 54.5 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the free throw line.
    The Rattlers were led by Jalen Speer with a game-high 19 points and four assists. He was followed by Morrell Schramm with 12 points and K'Jei Parker with nine points. Jordan Cheatham kept FAMU in the game with six rebounds and four assists.
    As a team, Florida A&M went 41.5 percent from the field and 73.3 percent from the stripe.
    Alcorn crosses the Florida Panhandle to face Bethune-Cookman University on Monday, Jan 29 at 7:30 p.m. (ET).
