PINE BLUFF, Ark. – Alcorn State University men's basketball traveled to face the University of Arkansas-Pine Bluff and dominated the game. The Braves came away with a 68-56 win over the Golden Lions to break .500 in Southwestern Athletic Conference play.
Alcorn (6-17, 5-5 SWAC) dominated the game by keeping Arkansas-Pine Bluff off kilter. ASU scored 26 points to UAPB's nine in points off turnovers. The Braves also crashed the board to the tune of 39 total rebounds and outscored their opponent, 38-24, in the paint. The team bench racked up 20 points compared to the Golden Lions four.
Jeremiah Kendall led the way for Alcorn State with 16 points and seven rebounds. He also accounted for a steal and a block.
Jeremiah Gambrell racked up 13 points, five steals, three assists, and two rebounds.
Dekedran Thorn dropped a quick 12 points and two rebounds.

Byron Joshua attacked the boards for the Braves and came back with eight rebounds each. Joshua had great court vision and dished out six assists.
As a team, Alcorn went 41.7 percent from the field and 54.2 percent from the free throw line.
UAPB (10-13, 5-5 SWAC) was led by Kylen Milton with a solid double-double of 19 points and 14 rebounds. He also came up with six assists. He was followed by Lonnell Martin with 11 points and four rebounds. Robert Lewis contributed two blocks.
Arkansas-Pine Bluff was 38 percent from the field and 60 percent from the line.
The Braves will be back in action on Monday, Feb. 12 in Itta Bena, Miss. as they face Mississippi Valley State University. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
