SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Alcorn State University baseball traveled to San Antonio, Texas to face University of Incarnate Word for a three-game series. The Braves were defeated by the Cardinals, 4-14, in seven innings on Friday afternoon.
Alcorn (0-4) scored four runs on six hits and committed two errors.
Kalum Banks, Jr. scored one run, went 1-of-3 and batted a run in.
Dillon Crowell scored a run, went 2-of-3 and batted two in. Benjamin Martin went 1-of-2 and batted a run in.
Incarnate Word (5-1) finished with 14 runs on 10 hits and committed no errors. Cameron Caley scored two runs, went 1-of-3, and batted two in. J.D. Gregson scored two runs, went 2-of-5 and batted two in. Tyler Cowan scored two runs, went 1-of-2, and two batted in. Grant Randall scored one run, 2-of-4, and batted three in.
Kewan Braziel (0-2) suffered the loss for the Braves with five innings pitched allowing six hits, seven runs, four walks, struck out one batter. He faced 27 batters.
UIW's Josh Salinas picked up the win with six innings pitched allowing two hits, one earned run, one walk, and seven strikeouts. He faced 21 batters.
Alcorn will continue the series with Cardinals on Saturday, Feb. 24. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
