SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Alcorn State University baseball went 0-2 to close out their weekend series against the University of Incarnate Word. On Saturday afternoon, the Braves fell 0-15 in seven innings. ASU was defeated on Sunday afternoon by the Cardinals, 1-18.
    In the second game, Alcorn (0-6) scored no runs on two hits while committing two errors.
Garrett Palladino and
Trey Adams went 1-of-2 at the plate.
    UIW (7-1) scored 15 runs on nine hits while committing no errors. J.D. Gregson went 1-of-4, scored two runs, batted one in and hit a double. Rey Mendoza scored two runs and went 1-of-2. Dalton Beck went 1-of-2, scored two runs, and one run batted in. Ryan Scott went 1-of-2, scored one run, and batted in two. Rob Liddington went 1-of-3, scored one run, and batted two in. Tony DeJesus went 2-of-4, scored two runs, batted three in, and hit a home run. Grant Randall went 2-of-3, scored two runs, batted two in, and hit a triple.
    Incarnate Word's Isaiah Zavala (1-0) picked up the win for the Cardinals with seven innings pitched allowing two hits, one walk, eight strikeouts, and faced 23 batters.

Guershon Exi (0-2) suffered the loss for the Braves with 2.2 innings pitched allowing six hits, 12 runs (11 earned), six walks, two strikeouts, and one wild pitch. Exi faced 22 batters.
    In the closing game, Alcorn scored one run on four hits while committing one error.
Jaylon Lucky went 1-of-3, scored one run, and stole a base.
Diego Lopez-Molina went 1-of-2 and batted a run in.
Jaylon Burrell stole a base.
    The Cardinals scored 18 runs on 15 hits while committing no errors. Mendoza went 2-of-2, scored one run, batted one in, and hit a home run. Sterling Sutcliffe went 3-of-4, scoring three runs, batted four in, and hit a home run. Gregson went 1-of-4, scored one run, and batted in one run. Scott went 2-of-3, scored three runs with two runs batted in. Randall went 1-of-2, scored two runs, and batted three in. Cameron Caley went 1-of-2, scored one run, and batted two in. Ryder Hernandez went 1-of-2, scored two runs, with three runs batted in.
    UIW's Ryan Schlotzhauer (1-0) picked up the win with two innings pitched allowing one hit, one walk, three strikeouts, and faced eight batters.

Andres Chirinos (0-1) suffered the loss for Alcorn with three innings pitched allowing seven hits, seven earned runs, six walks (one intentional), three strikeouts, and one wild pitch. Chirinos faced 22 batters.
    The Braves will be back in action from March 1-3 as they travel to face in-state rival, Jackson State University in a weekend series.
