LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University women's basketball (7-18, 5-9 SWAC) welcomed Jackson State University into the Davey L. Whitney Complex on Saturday afternoon. The Lady Braves couldn't close out and were defeated by the Tigers, 54-62.
    The Lady Braves were led by
Tyginae Wright with 20 points, three assists and one rebound. She was followed by
Destiny Brown with 14 points, a team-high eight rebounds, four assists, and one block.
Nakia Cheatham collected nine rebounds and one block.
Nia McCalphia dished out four assists.
    As a team, Alcorn went 38.8 percent from the field and 53.8 percent from the line.
    Jackson State University (19-6, 14-0 SWAC) was led by Angel Jackson with 19 points, eight rebounds, and two steals. Areyanna Hunter finished the game with 13 points and two steals. Ti'lan Boler contributed three assists.
    Collectively, the Tigers went 38 percent from the field and 65.5 percent from the line.
    Alcorn State will be back in action on Saturday, March 2 as they travel to Texas to face Prairie View A&M University.
