PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Head Coach
Landon Bussie and Alcorn State University men's basketball (11-17, 10-5 SWAC) were on all cylinders and full steam ahead against Prairie View A&M University. The Braves defeated the Panthers, 73-65, by capitalizing off turnover and being hot off the bench.
Alcorn outscored PV in points off turnover, 20-18, second chance points, 11-9, and the bench, 24-1.
Jeremiah Gambrell put on a homecoming performance dropping 21 points and five rebounds. He was followed by
Dekedran Thorn with 12 points, two rebounds, and one block.
Byron Joshua contributed 11 points, four assists, and three rebounds.
ASU went 49.1 percent from the field and 60.9 percent from the line.
The Panthers (10-19, 5-11 SWAC) were led by Brian Myles with a double-double of 22 points and 13 rebounds. Javontae Hopkins recorded 18 points and three blocks. Kevin McGaskey tallied 12 points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Collectively, PVAMU went 42.6 percent from the field and 68.2 percent from the line.
Alcorn will be back on the court against Texas Southern University on Monday, March 4. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m.
