Alcorn Baseball Goes 1-2 Against UAPB

LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University baseball traveled to face the University- of Arkansas-Pine Bluff for a three-day series over Easter Weekend. The Braves picked up one win, 8-7, and dropped the last two games, 3-29, and 4-16.

Game One
    In the first contest, Alcorn scored eight runs on 12 hits while committing three errors. Nathaz Gamez went 2-of-5, scored one run, and two RBI. Jaylon Lucky went 2-of-4, scored a run, and batted two in. Garrett Palladino went 3-of-5, scored one run, and batted one in. Dillon Crowell went 2-of-5, scored one run, and had one RBI.

   Arkansas-Pine Bluff scored seven runs on seven hits while committing three errors. Carlos Rodriguez went 1-of-3, scored two runs, and batted three in. Jalyn Williams went 2-of-4, scored two runs, and had two RBI. Edwin DeLaCruz went 1-of-5 and batted a run.

    Kiki Ford, Jr. picked up the win for Alcorn with 1.1 innings pitched allowing one hit, one walk, two strikeouts, and six batters faced.

    Ben VanMaanen suffered the loss for UAPB with 3.1 innings pitched for one run, one walk, five strikeouts, and 12 batters faced.

Game Two
    The Braves scored three runs on eight hits while committing right errors. Palladino went 3-of-4, scored a run, and one run batted in. Dillon Crowell went 1-of-3 and batted a run in. Ben Martin went 2-of-2, scored a run, and had an RBI.

    The Golden Lions scored 29 runs on 23 hits with no errors. Williams went 2-of-4, scored four runs, and batted two in. Gavin Terry went 4-of-4, scored two runs, and had three RBI. Jose Rubalcava went 2-of-5, scored two runs, and had three RBI. DeLaCruz went 3-of-4, scored two runs, and had two RBI. Brandon Simon went 2-of-5, scored two runs, and batted two in. JaKobi Jackson had a hit, a run, and batted two in. Trinidad DeLaGarza went 2-of-4, scored three runs, and finished with two RBI. Maurice Edwards had a hit, a run, and one RBI. Darrius Brown had four hits, three hits, and one run batted in. Lamont Swannigan had a run batted in with two appearances.

    Jacob Ehling picked up the win for UAPB with seven innings pitched allowing eight hits, three earned runs, four strikeouts, and faced 29 batters.

    Kewn Braziel suffered the loss with four innings pitched for 12 hits, 11 runs (eight earned), three walks, three strikeouts, and 28 batters faced.

Game Three
    In the final contest, Alcorn scored four runs on five hits while committing two errors. Martin finished with two hits and one run batted in. Crowell had one run batted in with three appearances.
    
    UAPB scored 16 runs on 10 hits while committing an error. Williams had one hit, one run, and two runs batted in. Terry had a hit, two runs, and one RBI. Carlos Rodriguez had one hit, three runs, and two runs batted in. Brandon Simon had a hit, a run, and one run batted in. Jaylon Nauden had three hits, two runs, and a run batted in. DeLaGarza had a run and two runs batted in. Rubalcava finished with one run and a run batted in. Brown had a hit, two runs, and three runs batted in.

    Jaedon Willis snapped up the win for the Golden Lions with 5.1 innings pitched allowing five hits, three runs (two earned), four walls, four strikeouts, and 27 batters faced.
   
    Andres Chirinos suffered the loss after facing nine batters allowing one hit, six runs, five walks, two strikeouts, and one wild pitch.

    Alcorn will be back in action on Tuesday, April 2 as they travel to Lake Charles, La. to face McNeese State University. First pitch for the single game is set for 6 p.m.
