LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University baseball went head-to-head with Prairie View A&M University at home in Willie "Rat" McGowan Stadium over the weekend in their first home series of the season. The Braves put up a tough fit but were swept by the Panthers with scores of 6-11, 6-15, and 4-11.
Game One
ASU scored six runs on 13 hits while committing two errors. Trey Adam had two hits, a run, and batted one in.
Jaylon Lucky finished the game with a hit, a run, and two RBI.
Kalum Banks, Jr. had three hits, a run, and batted one in while
Ben Martin finished with two run, one hit, and a run batted in.
Prairie View A&M scored 11 runs on 13 hits while committing an error. Michael Smith and Michael Burroughs finished the game with two hits, a run, and two RBI. Tyran Norris had a hit, a run, and an RBI. Benjamin Ybarra ended the day with two hits, two runs, and a run batted in. Derrek Lathon, Jr. had a run, a hit, and two batted in while Isaac Davila finished with three hits, a run, and two batted in.
Myles Dews picked up the win for PV with seven innings pitched for 12 hits, six runs, two walks, six strikeouts, and 35 batters faced.
Michael Lorenz suffered the loss for Alcorn with 4.1 innings pitched for seven hits, seven runs (five earned), five strikeouts, a wild pitch, and 22 batters faced.
Game Two
Alcorn scored six runs on 10 hits while committing three errors.
Jermel Ford finished the day with two hits, a run, and two batted in.
Gavin Caston had two hits, one run, and a run batted in.
Nathan Gamez ended the game with a hit, a run, and an RBI.
Kalum Banks, Jr. finished with a hit and a run batted in.
Garrett Palladino had an RBI.
The Panthers scored 15 runs on 12 hits while committing an error. Marshal Jones had three hits, three runs, and three runs batted in. Bejamin Ybarra finished the game with two hits, a run, and three RBI. Michael Burroughs had two hits, a run, and two runs batted in. Jayden Williams ended the day with three runs, two batted in, and a hit. Isaac Davila had two hits, two runs, and an RBI. Mason Heiskell finished the game with a run, a hit, and a run batted in.
Matthew Krall picked up the win with five innings pitched for eight hits, six runs, three walks, a wild pitch, and 27 batters faced.
Kewan Braziel suffered the loss for the Braves with 5.2 innings pitched for six hits, eight runs (seven earned), three walks, four strikeouts, and 26 batters faced.
Game Three
The Braves scored four runs on 14 hits while committing four errors. Banks finished with a hit and an RBI. Caston and
Samuel Leonard had a hit and a run batted in each.
PV scored 11 runs on nine hits while committing three errors. Norris finished with two hits and three RBI. Cameron Franklin had one hit and two runs batted in.
Tyson Carlton snapped up the win with six innings pitched for nine hits, two runs (one earned), four walks, six strikeouts, and 30 batters faced.
Myles Dews picked up the loss for the Braves with five innings pitched for three hits, three runs (two earned), four walks, three strikeouts, and 23 batters faced.
