HOUSTON, Texas – Alcorn State University traveled to Houston to face Texas Southern University in a three-game series. The Braves were swept by the Tigers in all three games with scores of 1-20, 3-8, and 8-18.
Game One
Alcorn scored a run on four hits while committing two errors.
Gavin Caston had an RBI while
Garrett Palladino finished with two hits and a run.
Nathan Gamez and
Jermel Ford had a hit each.
Texas Southern finished with 20 runs on 16 hits while committing an error. Nin Burns, II finished with three hits with one being a home run, two runs, and eight runs batted in. CJ Castillo had two hits, four runs and two runs batted in. Jesse Herrara, III ended the day with a run and two batted in. Jordan Vidato had a run, a hit, and two runs batted in. Jonathan Trejo had a hit and two runs batted in.
Domenic Martinez picked up the win for Texas Southern with five innings pitched for two hits, one run, two walks, six strikeouts, and faced 19 batters.
Nico Garcia suffered the loss for Alcorn with two innings pitched for seven hits, eight runs, four walks, and faced 17 batters.
Game Two
The Braves scored three runs on five hits while committing an error. Palladino had two hits with a home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Jaylon Burrell finished the day with a hit and a run batted in.
The Tigers scored eight runs on 10 hits with no errors. Tyler Legendre scored a run, hit a home run, and batted three in. Nasir Frederick also scored a run, hit a home run, and had three RBI.
Dalton Alford picked up the win for Texas Southern with seven innings pitched for four hits, two runs, four walks, three strikeouts, and 28 batters faced.
Kewan Braziel suffered the loss for Alcorn with seven innings pitched for nine hits, seven runs, two walks, three strikeouts, a balk and 31 batters faced.
Game Three
ASU scored eight runs on nine hits while committing five errors. Burrell had two hits, a run, and batted two in. Garcia ended the day with a hit, a run and two batted in. Palladino finished the game with three hits, two runs, and an RBI. Gamez had a hit, a run and one batted in.
Samuel Leonard ended the day with a hit, a run, and RBI.
Texas Southern scored 18 runs on 15 hits while committing three errors. Burns hit a home run, scored three runs and batted three in. Jason Lazo had three hits, two runs, and two RBI. Tyler Williams finished the game with a hit, a run, and two runs batted in.
Josiah Castro snapped up the win for the Tigers with six innings pitched allowing seven hits, six runs, two walks, seven strikeouts and 27 batters faced.
Andres Chirinos picked up the loss for the Braves with three innings pitched for three hits, seven run (three earned), seven walks, five strikeouts, a wild pitch, and 20 batters faced.
