Braves Fall to Panthers in Final Series to Close Season, 0-3

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Alcorn State University baseball traveled to face Prairie View A&M University for a three-game series against the Panthers to close out the 2024 season. The Braves put up a good fight but dropped the series, 0-3, with scores of 13-20, 3-5, and 2-6.

    ASU ends the season with an overall record of 6-43 and a Southwestern Athletic Conference record of 5-25.

Game One
    Alcorn scored 13 runs on 14 hits while committing two errors. Ben Martin finished the game with two hits, a run, and batted four in. Nathan Gamez had three runs, three hits, and two RBIs. Kalum Banks, Jr. rounded out the bats for the Braves with two hits, three runs, and two batted in.

    Prairie View scored 20 runs on 20 hits while committing four errors. Garrison Weiss had two hits, a run and five batted in. Marshal Jonas finished the game with two hits, a run, and three batted in. Lee Allen had three hits, three runs, and two RBIs.

    Elijah Breeden picked up the win for the Panthers with 3.1 innings, five hits, four runs, two walks, a strikeout, and 19 batters faced.

    Michael Lorenz suffered the loss for ASU with eight batters faced for a hit, four runs (two earned) and four walks.

Game Two
    Alcorn scored three runs on eight hits while committing no errors. Gamez finished the game with a hit and an RBI. Garrett Palladino had two hits, a run, and a run batted in.

    The Panthers scored five runs on 11 hits while committing an error. Weiss and Michael Burroughs had two hits, a run, and an RBI. Marshal Jones finished with two hits and a run batted in. Jordan Williams had one run batted in.

    Matthew Krall earned the win for PVAMU with 4.2 innings pitched for six hits, three runs, two walks, four strikeouts, and faced 22 batters.

    Kewan Braziel suffered the loss with six innings pitched for 11 hits, five runs, four walks, three strikeouts, and faced 31 batters.

Game Three
    The Braves scored two runs on nine hits while committing two errors. Martin had two hits and a run batted in.  Palladino finished with a hit and an RBI.

    Prairie View scored six hits on eight hits while committing three errors. Weiss ended the game with a run batted in. Michael Smith finished with two hits, two runs, and two runs batted in. Paul Castro and Isaac Davila had a run, a hit, and an RBI each.

    Victor Mendoza snapped up the win for the Panthers with six innings pitched for four runs, a run, two walks, a strikeout, a balk, and faced 26 batters.

    Nico Garcia suffered the loss for Alcorn with five innings pitched for five hits, three runs, two walks, two strikeouts, a wild pitch, and faced 22 batters.
