BATON ROUGE, La. – Alcorn State University baseball took to the diamond against Southern University in a three-game series. The Braves were defeated in the first two games, 1-14 and 1-10, but won the last game, 13-11.
Game One
Alcorn scored a run on eight hits while committing no errors.
Nathan Gamez finished with a hit and a run batted in.
Southern scored 14 runs on 17 hits while committing an error. Dylan Jones had three hits, three runs and three RBI. Tyeler Hawkins scored two runs, had three hits, and two batted in. Quincy Smith, III finished the game with a hit, a run and three batted in. Dominic Joseph had a hit, a run, and two batted in.
Ranard Grace picked up the win for the Jaguars with six innings pitched for seven hits, a run, a walk, six strikeouts, and faced 26 batters.
Myles Dews suffered the loss for Alcorn with two innings pitched for eight hits, six runs, four walks, two strikeouts, and faced 18 batters.
Game Two
The Braves scored a run on five hits while committing no errors.
Dillon Brown finished the game with a hit and a run.
SU scored 10 runs on 12 hits while committing no errors. Kameron Byrd had two hits, two runs, and three RBI. Rashard Graces finished the game with two hits, two runs and two runs batted in. K.J. White had a hit, a run, and two RBI.
Drew Lasseigne picked up the win for Southern with seven innings pitched for five hits, one run, nine strikeouts, and faced 25 batters.
Kewan Braziel suffered the loss for the Braves with six innings pitched for 10 hits, eight runs, two walks, five strikeouts, and faced 29 batters.
Game Three
ASU scored 13 runs on 12 hits while committing an error.
Jaylon Lucky finished the game with two hits, two runs, and three RBI.
Trey Adams had a hit, a run, and three batted in.
Ben Martin ended the game with a hit and three batted in.
Southern scored 11 runs on 11 hits while committing four errors. Byrd finished the game with three hits, a run, and four batted in. Smith had two hits, two runs, and two RBI.
Kiki Ford, Jr. snapped up the win and the save for the Braves with three innings pitched for a hit, a walk, four strikeouts, and faced 11 batters.
Jaden Brasseaux suffered the loss for the Jaguars with 1.1 innings pitched for three hits, three runs (one earned), two walks and faced 10 batters.
