LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State volleyball came up short at home Sunday afternoon, falling 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-11) to Bethune-Cookman inside the E.E. Simmons Gymnasium.
Courtney Carter led the Lady Braves offensively with 10 kills, five digs, and two aces, while Kyla Powell added seven kills and Rylan Jones chipped in six. Juliana Henao directed the offense with 26 assists and added solid play at the net.
Libero Tomoni Giddings anchored the defense with eight digs. As a team, Alcorn recorded 30 kills and seven total blocks while hitting .069 for the match.
Bethune-Cookman (8-11, 5-2 SWAC) hit .284 overall and totaled nine team blocks.
The loss drops Alcorn State to 2-17 overall and 1-5 in SWAC play. The Lady Braves will continue conference action tomorrow as they host Florida A&M inside the E.E. Simmons Gymnasium.
