PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas – Alcorn State women's soccer dropped a 2-0 decision Thursday evening to Prairie View A&M at the Lady Panther Soccer Field. The Lady Braves held the edge in possession and matched PVAMU in total shots but were unable to find the back of the net in the Southwestern Athletic Conference matchup.
Alcorn (4-6-4, 3-2-2 SWAC) recorded 11 total shots with six on goal, led by Deryn Doamekpor's six attempts, including three on target. Annick Zouma added two shots, one on goal, while Iesha Rollins and Ainara Aldeano each registered one shot on frame.
After a scoreless opening half, Prairie View A&M (4-10-2, 3-3-1 SWAC) broke through in the 73rd minute on an unassisted goal by Niasia Goodwin. The Lady Panthers extended their lead in the 81st minute as Emely Reyes converted a penalty kick.
Goalkeeper Bame Mokime played 77 minutes and was credited with the loss, while Maria Heuman appeared in relief, recording one save over the final 13 minutes. Alcorn held a 61 percent possession advantage and earned 10 corner kicks, including eight in the second half.
The Lady Braves continue conference play Sunday at Texas Southern. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. in Houston, Texas.
