Lorman, Miss. - The Thanksgiving week brings tournament action for both Alcorn State basketball programs as the Braves and Lady Braves head to Florida and Louisiana for a pair of early-season classics.
The Alcorn State women's basketball team travels to the Sunshine State to compete in the Emerald Coast Classic on November 24–25. The Lady Braves will open play on Monday, November 24, against Mississippi State at 1:30 p.m., followed by a Tuesday match up against Middle Tennessee State or Providence, time to be given after Mondays contest. Head Coach Nate Kilbert's squad looks to continue building momentum after a challenging non-conference slate highlighted by contests against LSU and Alabama.
Meanwhile, the Alcorn State men's basketball team heads west to take part in the Louisiana Tech Tournament on November 28–29 in Ruston, Louisiana. The Braves open the event on Friday, November 28, against Indiana State, before closing out play on Saturday, November 29, against another tournament host, Louisiana Tech. Under Head Coach Jake Morton, Alcorn continues its rigorous early-season schedule, which has included match ups against nationally ranked programs such as Oklahoma and Maryland.
Both teams will use these tournaments as key measuring sticks heading into December play and the upcoming Southwestern Athletic Conference season.
