This Week at Alcorn State

12/8/2025 8:00:00 AM

Lorman, Miss. - As the calendar reaches a natural pause in December competition, Alcorn State Athletics navigates a quiet but purposeful week on The Reservation. With no contests scheduled, several programs embrace a much-needed window to recharge, refocus, and prepare for the final stretch of non-conference and early-season action.

The men's and women's basketball teams both step away from game play following demanding opening slates that featured nationally ranked opponents, road-heavy schedules, and early opportunities to identify strengths and areas for growth. This week's break provides each program valuable time to recover, tighten execution, and add refinements on both ends of the floor before resuming non-conference play. The Braves and Lady Braves return to action next week as they look to close out the non-conference portion of their schedules with confidence and momentum.

Meanwhile, Alcorn's indoor track and field program continues its buildup toward the heart of its competitive season. Under the direction of Head Coach Alonzo Banks, the Braves and Lady Braves will not return to action until after the New Year, using this period to strengthen training cycles, finalize event group development, and position the roster for a strong start to 2026.

While game days take a brief pause, the work across Alcorn Athletics continues steadily, rooted in preparation and an eye toward what lies ahead. The Braves look forward to returning to competition in the coming days and entering the new year with focus, energy, and the pride that has long defined Alcorn State University.
