JACKSON, Miss. – The Alcorn State women's tennis team suffered a 4-0 defeat to Florida A&M on Saturday at the JSU Tennis Center in their second Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) match of the season. Despite the result, the Lady Braves (4-10, 1-1 SWAC) put up a strong fight in several unfinished matches before the Rattlers (3-8, 2-0 SWAC) clinched the victory.
DOUBLES
Florida A&M secured the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions.
Natalija Nikolic and Ozi-Oiza Yakubu battled at the top spot but fell 6-2, while
Doaa Mohamed and
Aanya Rao dropped a 6-1 decision at No. 3. The No. 2 match, featuring
Oihane Villanueva Lopez and
Nikita Liyanage, remained unfinished with the Lady Braves leading 4-3.

SINGLES
The Rattlers carried their momentum into singles play, winning three straight matches to clinch the team victory. Mohamed fell in straight sets at No. 1, while Yakubu and Rao were also defeated in two sets at No. 4 and No. 6, respectively.
Several matches remained unfinished, including Nikolic's at No. 2, where she took the opening set 6-4 before play was halted. Villanueva Lopez was in a tight battle at No. 3, trailing 6-3, 1-1, while Liyanage held a 6-4, 2-1 lead at No. 5 when play was stopped.
