Alcorn State Falls to Southern in Series Finale, 16-6

Box Score BATON ROUGE, LA – Alcorn State baseball closed out its weekend series against Southern University on Sunday afternoon but came up short, falling 16-6 at Lee Hines Stadium. The Braves (5-27, 1-14 SWAC) fought back from an early deficit with a five-run sixth inning, but Southern's explosive offense proved too much to overcome.

Jermel Ford led the Braves offensively, going 2-for-4 with an RBI triple and two runs scored. Kanious Davis added a strong effort at the plate, finishing 3-for-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases. Reyfield Adams III went 1-for-4 with two RBIs, while Clayvonjae Wright tallied two hits and scored a run. Alcorn tallied 10 hits overall but couldn't keep pace with the Jaguars, who scored in five of seven innings and capitalized on timely extra-base hits.

Myles Dews took the loss on the mound for Alcorn, while Southern's Nick Luckett earned the win with six innings pitched.
