LAUREL, MS – Despite an early lead and an eight-hit effort, Alcorn State baseball was unable to hold off a relentless Southeastern Baptist offense, falling 16-5 on Tuesday evening at A.W. Watson Stadium. The Braves (6-34) led 5-1 after four innings before the hosts erupted for 15 unanswered runs over the next four frames to secure the non-conference win.
Samuel Leonard led Alcorn at the plate with two hits, including a double and two RBIs, while
Kanious Davis continued his hot streak with a 2-for-3 performance and two runs scored. The Braves were aggressive on the basepaths with seven stolen bases but committed four costly errors and issued 12 walks, which allowed Southeastern Baptist to take control late.
