Lorman, Miss. – Alcorn State University Athletics continues to raise the academic bar, earning multiple recognitions from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) for the 2024-25 academic year.
The Braves were named the recipient of the 2024-25 SWAC Academic Success Award, finishing atop the conference with a total of 33 points based on cumulative rankings across three key metrics: highest four-year Academic Progress Rate (APR) average, highest single-year APR average, and highest Graduation Success Rate (GSR). Texas Southern (30.0) and Prairie View A&M (26.0) rounded out the top three.
In addition to the department-wide honor, Alcorn State also ranked among the top institutions in the SWAC All-Academic Achievement Award, finishing third overall with 65 percent of its student-athletes posting a 3.0 GPA or higher during the 2024-25 academic year.
Furthermore, an impressive number of Alcorn State student-athletes were named to the SWAC Commissioner's Honor Roll, which recognizes individuals who achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher during the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters. The full list of honored Braves can be viewed
