LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University head football coach Cedric Thomas has announced the addition of two new assistant coaches to the Braves' 2025 coaching staff. Alvin Fosselman III joins as Special Teams Coordinator and Outside Linebackers Coach, while Tavarian McCullum will coach the nickel backs.

Fosselman arrives at Alcorn following a successful seven-year stint at Prairie View A&M University, where he served in various roles including Defensive Coordinator and Special Teams Coordinator. A proven defensive strategist, Fosselman helped guide Prairie View to a SWAC Western Division title in 2023 and mentored several standout defenders, including 2024 Freshman All-American Ayden Jones. His special teams units consistently ranked among the FCS elite, including top-20 national marks in punt return defense and blocked kicks.

A Mississippi native and former player at Southern University, Fosselman brings more than a decade of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels. His background includes a notable tenure at Wilkinson County High School, where he served as Assistant Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator.

McCullum, a familiar face to Braves fans, returns to the Alcorn sideline after previously serving as a graduate assistant under former head coach Fred McNair. A former Alcorn defensive back himself, McCullum brings both experience and energy to the secondary, with a focus on the ever important nickel back position.

A Collins, Mississippi native, McCullum has also coached at the high school level, earning a reputation for his player-first approach and emphasis on discipline and football IQ. He holds a bachelor's degree from Alcorn and is currently pursuing his master's in sports administration.

Both coaches are expected to play vital roles in shaping the Braves' defensive identity heading into the 2025 season.
