LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Dr. Timothy D. Queen, Ed.D. as the new head cheer coach.
Dr. Queen, a proud Alcorn graduate, returns to his alma mater with a wealth of experience as an educator and championship-winning coach. He previously served as head cheerleading coach and coordinator of Greek Life at Kentucky State University, where he led the program to the 2020 SIAC Cheerleading Championship and established both All-Girl and Co-Ed teams—the first in school history. He also brings over a decade of experience as an educator, holding leadership roles in school districts across Mississippi and Georgia.
"I am beyond excited to return home and lead a program that helped shape me into the person I am today. I am forever grateful to the alumni cheerleaders whose support has carried me through this pivotal moment in my life. Alcorn is truly the place to be—and I'm honored to come back home to continue its rich legacy," said Dr. Queen.
"We are excited to welcome Dr. Timothy Queen to the Alcorn State University family as our new head cheer coach. Dr. Queen brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and passion that will elevate our cheer program and enhance the game day atmosphere for our student-athletes, fans, and community. His vision aligns perfectly with our commitment to excellence, spirit, and tradition, and we look forward to the impact he will have on our student-athletes both on and off the court," said Dwayne Robinson, Director of Athletics.
Dr. Queen earned his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Morehead State University in 2022, a Master of Science in Secondary Education from Alcorn State in 2012, and a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from Alcorn in 2005. He is also a certified cheerleading coach and a lifelong member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
With his return, Alcorn looks forward to a new era of energy, tradition, and championship spirit under his leadership.
