LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State volleyball battled Saturday afternoon but came up short in a 3–1 loss to Paul Quinn at the Davey L. Whitney Complex. Set scores were 15-25, 25-21, 25-18, 25-20.
The Lady Braves (0-7) started strong, taking the first set behind a balanced attack that featured early kills from Courtney Carter, Jessika Martinez, and Erin Mims. Carter finished the match with a team-best 14 kills and added 14 digs, while Martinez followed with 16 kills on a .344 hitting percentage and 10 digs, both players recorded a double-double.
Setter Juliana Henao directed the offense with 27 assists. Mims provided a steady presence at the net and back row with seven kills and 18 assists, while libero Tomoni Giddings anchored the defense with a match-high 30 digs.
Alcorn hit .225 in the opening set but cooled to a .152 clip for the match as Paul Quinn (1–7) rallied to claim the next three frames. The Lady Braves were edged at the net, finishing with 3.0 team blocks compared to the Tigers' 10.0.
Alcorn will look to bounce back as they travel to Monroe next week to face ULM.
