MONROE, La.- Alcorn State Cross Country delivered a strong collective effort at the ULM Invitational on Friday evening, with both the men's and women's teams claiming runner-up finishes against a field that included host Louisiana-Monroe, Grambling, Wiley College, Tougaloo College, Centenary (La.), and Bossier Parish Community College.

On the women's side, the Lady Braves were led by Silvia Jepkorir, who clocked 20:21.79 to place 10th overall. Her top-10 finish came in a race dominated by ULM runners, as the Warhawks claimed the first nine spots. Jepkorir's strong closing kick helped Alcorn edge Grambling and Wiley for second place in the team standings.

The Braves' men matched the women with a second-place team showing, battling ULM, Centenary (La.), Grambling, Wiley, and Tougaloo. Bryan Alvarez set the tone with an 11th-place finish in 29:21.47, breaking up a tight pack of ULM athletes who captured the first ten positions. Alvarez's steady pace over the final mile gave Alcorn the cushion it needed to hold off Grambling and Wiley in the overall standings.

Facing deep, competitive fields on both sides, Alcorn's top finishers proved they can keep stride with some of the region's best. Both squads will look to build on these performances as they continue the fall campaign later this month.
