LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State battled in front of the home crowd Monday night but came up short in a 3-0 loss to Prairie View A&M inside the Davey L. Whitney HPER Complex. The Lady Braves fell by scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 25-20.
Rylan Jones led Alcorn offensively with 12 kills on a .409 hitting percentage, adding four blocks and three digs for a team-high 14 points.
Michaela Branner chipped in four kills, two aces, and two blocks, while
Jessika Martinez and
Cristin Webb each tallied four kills.
Setter
Juliana Henao paced the offense with 29 assists and added five digs and two blocks. On the defensive side,
Tomoni Giddings recorded a team-high 13 digs, and the Lady Braves combined for 14 total blocks at the net.
As a team, Alcorn finished with 36 kills, 31 assists, 35 digs, and three service aces, hitting .211 overall.
With the result, the Lady Braves fall to 1-14 overall and 0-2 in SWAC play. They will look to bounce back in their next conference matchup.
