LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State Athletics is proud to announce an all-inclusive partnership with
Driven Elite, founded by Alcorn alum and NFL Super Bowl Champion Donald Driver, bringing transformative programming to campus on January 20, 2026, as part of the organization's signature "New Year, New Kickoff" initiative.
The comprehensive partnership features specialized programming designed to support both men's and women's student-athletes at Alcorn State, addressing critical areas of athletic development, mental health, and overall wellness.
The visit from Driven Elite will also feature the SURGE initiative geared on a positive coaching platform.
The SURGE program will focus on promoting women's sports through positive coaching methodologies and comprehensive athlete support. Women's student-athletes at Alcorn will receive complimentary athletic gear and personalized nutritional information designed to optimize performance and promote long-term health. The program emphasizes creating a supportive environment where female athletes can thrive both on and off the field.
"SURGE represents our commitment to elevating women's sports and ensuring our female student-athletes have access to the resources, guidance, and support they need to excel," said D'Wayne Robinson, Alcorn Athletic Director. "We're grateful for this partnership that recognizes the unique needs of our women's programs."
For male student-athletes, Driven Elite will launch a groundbreaking mental health awareness program featuring a confidential app that connects student-athletes with licensed mental health professionals. The innovative platform allows athletes to seek support privately, promoting courage and reducing stigma around mental health in athletics.
The initiative addresses the often-overlooked mental health challenges facing male athletes, providing a safe space for student-athletes to discuss anxiety, performance pressure, depression, and other mental health concerns with qualified professionals.
"Driven Elite is committed to creating a safe, empowering environment for student-athletes at Alcorn State to strengthen their mental resilience, leadership, and sense of identity both on and off the field," commented Driver, a member of the Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame. "We believe mental health drives performance, and performance shapes life. Through intentional investment in young men and women, we provide mentorship, mindset development, and purpose-driven programming. The SURGE program for female student-athletes focuses on owning identity, showing up with purpose, and creating lasting impact in every space they enter.
"Alcorn State is the ideal place for these programs to grow, and I am honored to be part of this movement with Driven Elite at my alma mater."
The "New Year, New Kickoff" event January 20, will officially launch both programs with on-campus activities, workshops, and distribution of resources to Alcorn student-athletes. The partnership represents a long-term commitment to supporting the holistic development of Braves athletes.
"This partnership with Driven Elite exemplifies what it means to truly invest in student-athletes," continued Robinson. "Donald Driver's dedication to giving back to his alma mater and addressing the real needs of today's student-athletes will have a lasting impact on our programs and our students' lives."
