PEARL, Miss. – Alcorn Baseball has been selected to participate in the upcoming MLB HBCU Power Series in conjunction with Major League Baseball (MLB), taking place February 12-15, at Trustmark Park – home of the Mississippi Mud Monsters, in Pearl, Mississippi. The event is a multi-day showcase for Historically Black College and University (HBCU) Baseball student-athletes.

The event will bring six tradition-rich HBCU Baseball teams to Central Mississippi for a weekend built around high-level collegiate baseball, school pride and celebration in a professional ballpark setting.

Participating alongside Alcorn as part of this year's event will be Grambling State, Jackson State, Prairie View A&M, Southern (La.) and Texas Southern, respectfully.

"This is a huge honor for our organization and our community," said Andrew Seymour, General Manager of the Mississippi Mud Monsters. "Being selected by and partnering with Major League Baseball speaks to what this ballpark and this team are capable of. This weekend is going to feel loud, joyful, and intentional. It's great baseball, incredible traditions, and an atmosphere that welcomes everyone through the gates."

The MLB HBCU Power Series will feature three days of games from Friday, February 13, running through Sunday, February 15, with three game time slots per day. All games will be nine innings with a 10-run rule, creating a true collegiate showcase environment that balances competition with fan experience.

The event officially begins on Thursday, February 12, with a non-game, pre-event day focused on team workouts, arrivals, media moments, and pageantry. That opening day is designed to highlight the pride, tradition and culture surrounding HBCU athletics before the first pitch is ever thrown.

The Mississippi Mud Monsters, a member of the Frontier League (an MLB Partner League), were chosen in recognition of Trustmark Park's facilities, the organization's event experience, and its commitment to creating inclusive, community-forward baseball events.

Ticket prices for the event are $10 for adults, while kids ages 14 and under are just $5. Any student from the six participating schools with a valid university ID will receive free admission.

"What a great honor this is for us to participate in this event in our home state, and to showcase our talent to many in and around Major League Baseball," expressed Carlton Hardy, second-year head coach of Alcorn. "We have so many new guys this year to our program, and this kind of exposure to what we're trying to build in Lorman [Mississippi] is excellent for Alcorn, as well as HBCU Baseball, as a whole.

"There are so many great programs in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and beyond in the HBCU Baseball world, and I am thrilled that the MLB is partnering with the Mississippi Mud Monsters to hold this prestigious event."

While the competition on the field will take center stage, the atmosphere around it will be just as important. Fans can expect a weekend filled with school colors, state-to-state matchups, music, tradition, and shared moments that celebrate HBCU athletics on a professional stage.

Additional details including daily schedules, matchups, and on-site experiences will be announced at a later date.
