"It always gives me a thrill to continue the Classic tradition that began in 1990," said Fred Jones Jr., Southern Heritage Classic founder. "As always, we are working hard to make the 2026 Classic Cultural Celebration the best it can be with an event-filled weekend. With the stadium renovations expected to be completed in time for the upcoming football season, the Classic venue will be given a fresh update, and the fan experience will provide an added jolt of excitement."

For Alcorn, it is a repeat of last year's 36th edition of the Classic, where the Braves fell 24-20 to the UAPB Golden Lions in a thrilling contest. Alcorn erased a 17-13 halftime deficit to take a 20-17 lead after three quarters. The Golden Lions scored the winning touchdown with 5:39 left in the fourth, snapping a string of four consecutive victories by the Purple and Gold in the series.
