LORMAN, Miss. – Under the direction of first-year head coach
Jake Morton, Alcorn Men's Basketball will close out the 2025-26 regular season this week welcoming both Mississippi Valley State and Arkansas-Pine Bluff to Davey L. Whitney Complex for the final two Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) games of the campaign.
The Braves will also hold "Senior Appreciation Night" in saying goodbye to a special group of players suiting up at home for the final time in their Purple and Gold career.

RECAPPING ALCORN'S LAST GAME (at Prairie View A&M)
Joey Madimba scored 28 points and Dontae Horne supplied 16 to help Prairie View A&M to a 72-51 win over Alcorn in a SWAC Men's Basketball contest inside William J. Nicks Building in Prairie View, Texas.
• Prairie View A&M led wire-to-wire throughout, building a lead as large as 25 in the second half.
•
Omari Hamilton's layup saw Alcorn trailing 14-10, but that was followed by a 10-0 Panthers run over the course of the next five minutes.
• The Panthers shot 42.9 percent from the field in the opening half, while hitting just 2 of 10 from long range.
• The Braves trailed 36-22 at the half behind 24 first half points by the Panthers' Joey Madimba who was 11-for-15 shooting from the field in the opening stanza.
• Alcorn's
Tycen McDaniels and Hamilton each recorded seven points in the first half to try and keep the visitors close despite the Braves shooting just 29.6 percent from the field.
• The second half saw the hosts use 10 points from Dontae Horne and seven more off the bench from Elijah Mitchell to push the Panthers lead to 64-39 with 6:28 remaining in the contest.
• Prairie View A&M dominated the post with 46 points in the paint, compared to Alcorn's 22.
• The Braves were limited to just five assists off their 17 made field goals.
• Overall, the Purple and Gold shit 30.9 percent from the field for the game, while the Panthers hit at a 46 percent clip.
• PVAMU was led by 28 points from Madimba, as he finished 12-for-20 shooting. Horne had 16 points and Lance Williams added 11.
• Corey Dunning had a game-high 12 rebounds.
ALCORN VS. MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE SERIES
▪ Alcorn holds a commanding 81-38 advantage between the two sides all-time.
▪ The Braves took the season's earlier meeting with a 74-66 count in Itta Bena, Mississippi.
▪ Alcorn has won the last 13 games consecutively in the series, and 18 of the last 19 overall dating back to 2017.
▪ In the last 10 games played in Lorman, the Braves hold a 9-1 edge, with the lone loss being an 84-77 defeat to the Delta Devils on Jan. 14, 2017.
SCOUTING MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE
▪ Mississippi Valley State enters the week with a record of 3-27 overall, and a mark of 2-14 in the SWAC.
▪ The Delta Devils are averaging 64.3 points per game – one of the lowest outputs in the SWAC, while opponents are scoring at an 83.7 points per game clip against them.
▪ MVSU is topped in scoring by Michael James with a league-leading 626 points (21.6 ppg), connecting on a team-high 75 three-pointers in the process.
▪ Teammate Daniel Mayfield is shooting 43.2 percent from the floor and scoring 13.6 points per game as well.
▪ Lamont Sams and Mayfield provide much of the Delta Devils defense with 19 blocked shots each, respectively.
▪ Topping the squad overall in rebounds is Mayfield with 157 boards (6.3 rpg).
ALCORN VS. ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF SERIES
▪ In the all-time series against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, Alcorn owns a commanding 20-10 advantage dating back to 2011.
▪ Alcorn has won 10 consecutive games at home against the Golden Lions.
▪ The Golden Lions ended an 11-game skid against the Braves earlier this season courtesy an 84-77 decision in Pine Bluff.
▪ Prior to this season, the Purple and Gold had not lost to UAPB since Feb. 18, 2019.
▪ Alcorn won the first leg of last year's series, 79-60 in Lorman. The Braves then claimed a hard-fought 65-63 win in Pine Bluff.
SCOUTING ARKANSAS-PINE BLUFF
▪ In conference games only, UAPB outscored opponents by a razor-thin margin of 1,205 to 1,203 – a scoring differential of just +0.1 points per game.
▪ Quion Williams is UAPB's leading scorer at 17.4 points per game on the season and 17.6 per game in conference play, with both of those serving as team highs, respectfully.
▪ The junior leads the team in assists (161), rebounds (230, 7.9 rpg) and steals (49).
▪ In conference play, Jaquan Scott shoots 51.3 percent from the floor – the best mark among UAPB's primary rotation players.
▪ Trevon Payton is shooting a team-best .457 from three-point range, ranking among the best marks in the SWAC, on 129 attempts this season.
▪ UAPB outscored conference opponents 582–524 in the first half of league games. The second half proved to be a challenge, as opponents outscored UAPB 661–610 after the break.
