STATS & NOTES
â–ª Alcorn comes into the weekend series looking to snap an eight-game losing streak.
â–ª The UAPB series looms large because the final spot for the upcoming SWAC Tournament is still up for grabs between UAPB, Grambling State and Alcorn, respectively. All three teams have games that need to be made up or concluded due to weather.
â–ª The Braves hold a 7-8 record at home this season, but have dropped 11 consecutive games in the league dating back to last season.
â–ª For the Braves, Yahnya Acevedo (43), Olivia Miller (32) and Rajayla McBride (30) have 30 or more hits across the campaign.
â–ª The Purple and Gold have stolen 51 of 56 bases on the season.
â–ª Acevedo and Miller continue to be two of the hardest players to strike out in the league, with both having just six (6) each in a combined 238 at-bats.
â–ª Karmen Bernard has laid down a team-high eight sacrifice hits, and added one sac fly this season.
▪ From her pitcher position on the field, Alainah Felton has amassed a team second-highest .463 slugging percentage with a double and three home runs – tied for most on the team in that department.
â–ª In the pitcher's circle, Chiara Olison has recorded a 7-18 record with a 7.06 ERA, adding 29 strikeouts in 120 innings of action.
â–ª Miller is just two (2) hits away from 100 in her Alcorn career, while teammate Acevedo is 16 hits away from the century mark.

HISTORY
â–ª Going back to 2013, the series between Alcorn and Arkansas-Pine Bluff is tied at 15-15.
â–ª While Alcorn has won three of the last five meetings, UAPB claimed the previous completed game this season in Arkansas, 13-4.
â–ª The last time the two sides met for a series in Mississippi was 2014, with the Braves claiming two of three in that series.
â–ª Since 2013, Alcorn is 7-2 at home against the Golden Lions.

QUOTES FROM COACH BILLIE
"This weekend is going to be emotional; there's no way around it. These seniors have given so much to this program, to this university, and to each other. Watching them take the field for their last home series as Braves is something I don't take lightly as their coach."

"I just want them to go out and play free this weekend. Soak it all in – the crowd, the atmosphere, campus as a whole. They've earned every moment of it. Whatever happens, I want them to look back on this weekend with nothing but pride."

"We've talked about channeling those emotions into fuel. Yes, it's Senior Weekend, and yes, it's going to hit us all right in the heart. However, these young women are competitors first. I know they're going to come out ready to play."

" We understand what's at stake in this series, and our girls have been preparing with a sense of urgency. We want to give our fans something to be proud of this weekend."

RECAPPING ALCORN'S LAST GAME (at Southeastern Louisiana)
Shelby Morris was 3-for-3 at the plate with five RBIs on Tuesday evening as Southeastern Louisiana defeated Alcorn 13-0 in nonconference softball action at North Oak Park in Hammond, Louisiana

Shelby Morris, the Lions' leadoff hitter and second baseman, homered and doubled while being the offensive catalyst throughout the contest. She capped a seven-run second inning with an inside-the-park three-run homer to left center, scoring Brilee Ford and Shenita Tucker in the process. She added a two-run double in the third and a sacrifice fly in the fourth, respectfully.

Ka'Lyn Watson clubbed a two-run home run to right field – her sixth of the season – in the second inning, and Cydnee Schneider went 1-for-2 with two triples and two RBI. Maria Detillier was equally impressive with a 3-for-3 performance in producing a double, a single and three RBIs.

Meanwhile, shortstop Chloe Magee added a triple and an RBI of her own on the night.

Southeastern Louisiana sent 11 batters to the plate in the decisive second inning, collecting six hits and seven runs against starter Chiara Olison, who was chased after retiring just one batter in the frame.

Hallie Burns earned the win in relief, throwing a scoreless first inning before giving way to a parade of six SLU pitchers who combined to hold Alcorn to one hit over the game's final four innings.

Olison took the loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits in 2.1 innings. Olivia Miller and Alainah Felton combined to surrender six more runs in relief as the Braves were unable to slow the Lions' offense.

Alcorn managed just one hit, that being a Layla Watts double in the fourth frame.

UP NEXT
While the regular season concludes this weekend, the Braves must still complete a game that is currently postponed against Grambling State with the two sides deadlocked in the middle of the eighth inning. That game, along with the series against UAPB, could determine the final spot from the western division in the SWAC Tournament.
