BATON ROUGE, La. – Alcorn Track & Field made moves on both the men's and women's sides during day two of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships housed at A.W. Mumford Stadium on the campus of Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The women's 100m saw
Izayla Harris qualify for the finals with a time of 11.62 seconds.
Sariah Magee went 11.74 to place 13th in the preliminaries.

Kayotric Taplin crossed in a time of 13.88 seconds in the 100m hurdles during the prelims.
Â
In the 800m,
Lanise Chilton turned in a 14th place showing with a time of 2L24,05, followed by
Erin Barr with a 2:26.78 mark.
The final day of competition (May 12) will be streamed live on SWAC TV beginning at 5 p.m. CDT, with the women's 4x100 meter relay event.

The men's 100m hurdles used
Desmyn McCall for Alcorn qualifying for the finals in a mark of 14.50.

Trellas Forrest, a SWAC Indoor Champion for the Purple and Gold, grabbed a qualifying time of 47.22 seconds in the 400m. Teammate
Preston Summage also qualified with a time of 47.87, respectfully.

The 3000m steeplechase was headed up with a sixth-place finish by Alcorn's 11:20.69 from
Darrian Wells.

Jadan Miller claimed a fourth-place finish in the shot put with a distance of 15.43m (50-07.50).

On the women's side Southern sits atop the leaderboard with 53.5 total points. Alabama A&M (42 points) and Texas Southern (32 points) sit in second and third place respectively.

Jackson State currently sits in first place with 74 total points on the men's side. Texas Southern (44 points) and Bethune-Cookman (44 points) are currently in a tie for second place.
