Back-to-Back SWAC for Ambrose

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the second time in as many weeks, Alcorn Soccer's Grace Ambrose has been named Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Offensive Player of the Week for the period of August 25-31, 2026, announced Tuesday afternoon by the league office from its headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama.
 
After being named SWAC Offensive Player of the Week after the season opener, Grace Abrose, a 5-foot-5 junior forward from Aba, Nigeria, took a repeat performance following Alcorn's 7-4 win away to Nicholls State.
 
Ambrose outdid herself from the previous week as she contributed to an offensive firepower win over Nicholls on Thursday, August. The Segun Odegbami International College & Sports Academy product added a hat trick, marking the first in her Alcorn career. With the game tied at 1-1, Ambrose struck with a goal to put Alcorn in the lead at the 35th minute. As the action picked up in the second half, Ambrose amped the intensity scoring a game-tying goal at the 50th minute, followed by her third goal six minutes later, putting the Braves back in the lead.
 
The offensive firepower was highlighted by Ambrose and teammate Annick Zouma each having a hat trick in the victory – marking back-to-back wins in consecutive years for the Braves over the Colonels of Nicholls, respectfully.
 
Ambrose currently leads the SWAC with four goals, two assists and 10 points across the campaign through three games. She also holds a top 20 ranking in the NCAA in goals (12th) along with total points (12th).
 
Prairie View A&M's Nenah Jackson was crowned as Goalkeeper of the Week, while Grambling State's Jaleah Gonzalez' added her first honor for Newcomer of the week along with fellow Tigers performer Kaylen Jankans as Defensive Player of the Week.
 
Alcorn returns to action Sunday, August 30, when the Braves travel to Mississippi State in Starkville at 6 p.m.
