Tuscaloosa, Alabama- Lady Braves(0-10) faced the University of Alabama Wednesday night in their final non-conference matchup of the season. Ultimately, the Lady Braves dropped all the straight sets to the Crimson Tide (11-25)(19-25)(18-25).
Senior Courtney Carter and sophomore Rylan Jones both finished with six kills a piece.
Set One: Alabama took the first set 25-11 over Alcorn. The Lady Braves kept pace early, trailing 4-5 before Alabama used a strong run to build a 10-4 advantage and the set.
Set Two: Alcron dropped the second set 29-15. The Lady Braves battled early, staying in pace before Alabama built a 10-4 lead. Alcorn responded with a strong stretch, scoring six straight points to tie the set at 10-10. The teams traded points, with Alcorn pulling even at 11-11 and again at 13-13.
Set Three: Alabama closed out the match with a 25-18 win
The Lady Braves battled throughout the frame, pulling within one point at 6-7 after a service ace from Ki'ara Knight-Thompson and an attack error by Alabama. Rylan Jones later added a kill to bring Alcorn within three at 11-8.
Alabama maintained its lead as the set progressed, but Alcorn continued to fight. Jones, Courtney Carter, Knight-Thompson, and Cristin Webb contributed kills, while Kasey Watkins added two service aces in the set.
The Crimson Tide led 21-16 before Alcorn answered with a kill from Knight-Thompson and an Alabama attack error to make it 21-18. Alabama scored the final four points, however, to secure the 25-18 win and complete the sweep.
