Ruston,LA- Alcorn State Lady Braves took the floor Tuesday night in Ruston,Louisiana inside the Thomas Assembly Center,battling the Bulldogs in a non-conference volleyball match.Last time these two met was on 9/2/2025 in Lorman,MS and the Bulldogs came out on top 3-0.

The Braves fought through three competitive sets, tallying 24 kills as a team. The match featured seventeen tie scores and six lead changes, showing Alcorn's toughness.

Sophomore Rylan Jones led the Braves with 15 kills, reaching the 200th kill milestone for her career while hitting .167 hitting percentage finishing with ten points and adding two digs.Senior Courtney Carter nicked in five kills.

Setter Daylin Saiki steered the offense with 18 assists, surpassing 100 career assists.She also recorded one ace and two kills.

Sophomore Tomoni Giddings led the team with 19 digs out of the 33 digs as a team,with contributions from Kasey Watkins(4) and Courtney Carter(3).

As a team, the Braves finished with 24 kills, 1 service aces, and 33 digs, while hitting .115 for the match.

Alcorn State volleyball will hit the road this week as the Braves travel to Memphis,TN to compete in the Carrie Yerty Classic hosted by the University of Memphis. The Braves will open the tournament against the Memphis Tigers on Thursday September 10, at 10 a.m.
