LORMAN, Miss. – A total of 31 current and former Alcorn State University student-athletes received their degrees during fall commencement ceremonies held at Spinks-Casem Stadium on Saturday, Nov. 21.
"I am very proud of all the graduating student-athletes. The athletic department is thankful for all they have done for their respective programs and for the amount of work they've put in athletically and academically," said director of athletics Derek Horne. "I know they will represent Alcorn State University with class and dignity in their professional careers."
The athletes represent nine different sports including eight on the football team, five on men's basketball and track and field, four on women's soccer and baseball, a pair on volleyball and softball, and one on women's basketball. Two student-athletes, Alanna Bass and Jhi Piper-Murles, earned a master's degree.
