David Erby Named Head Strength and Conditioning Coach

LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University Director of Athletics Derek J. Horne announced Tuesday that David Erby has been named head strength and conditioning coach.

"I am excited, honored, and humbled to become the new director of strength and conditioning/head strength coach at Alcorn State University," said Erby. "I would like to thank Dr. Nave, Mr. Horne and his entire staff for the opportunity to be apart of a wonderful family and help support the vision and goal of Alcorn Athletics."

"I am incredibly excited to welcome David to Alcorn," said Horne. "His passion for helping student-athletes both athletically and academically will be a key factor in the future success of our program. He is a former standout DI student-athlete that possesses experiences that will enhance the training of our athletes."

Prior to his arrival in Lorman, Erby spent nine years at South Carolina State University and most recently served as the Bulldogs' associate director of strength and conditioning since 2017. Erby filled several roles during his time at South Carolina State including stints as the interim director of strength and conditioning, director of intramural sports, spirit program coordinator, and third assistant strength & conditioning coach.

For the past five years Erby has also assisted with NFL Combine and Pro Day training, helping prepare noteworthy athletes including Antonio Hamilton, Joe Thomas, and Alex Brown.

Erby earned his bachelor's degree in physical education activity & management from South Carolina State in 2010.
