LORMAN, Miss. - The Alcorn State University men's and women's track and field program released its indoor and outdoor schedule for the 2021 season, announced head coach
Jimmy Joseph Wednesday.
"I am extremely excited for the upcoming season, but sacrifices will still have to be made in order to achieve individual and team success," said Joseph.
In a shortened indoor season, the Braves venture to Birmingham, Ala. to compete in two events, the Vulcan and Blazer Invitationals, taking place on Jan. 15 and 16. After a break, Alcorn returns to Birmingham, Ala. Feb. 18-19 to compete in the SWAC Indoor Championships.
The Braves compiled a robust outdoor slate, opening on March 6 with their annual visit to the Jet Relays in Fort Worth, Texas. Alcorn continues competition March 19 in Hammond, La. at the SELU Triangular Meet before closing out the month with a trip to league-rival Prairie View A&M for the 87th Annual PV Relays March 26-27.
Two meets highlight the month of April as the Braves compete in the Mississippi College Invitational on April 4 before returning to Southeastern Louisiana for the Strawberry Relays slated for April 10.
Alcorn concludes the outdoor portion at the SWAC Outdoor Championships, hosted by Prairie View A&M May 8-10. The Braves postseason will extend to the NCAA East Region Meet in Jacksonville, Fla. if the athletes are ranked in the Top 48 in their respective event.
