'BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Senior Bralon Robinson bested a field of over 30 to win the 60-meter dash to help highlight another strong day for the Alcorn University track and field teams at the Vulcan Invitational Saturday.
Robinson was able to hold off Southern Mississippi's Elijah Miller to win the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.83. Miller crossed at 6.85. Other results on the men's side include senior Peterson Saint-Cyrin coming in seventh in the 800-meter with a time of 2:01.01. Freshman Arrington Robinson and Bralon Robinson each ran in the 200-meter with Arrington posting a time of 22.63 to come in 13th and Bralon in 16th with a time of 22.87. A trio of Braves ran in the 3,000 with freshman Christian Franklin leading the group crossing in 18th with a time of 9:10.83. Freshman Elijah Anderson and freshman Jeremiah Wingate placed back-to-back with Anderson coming in 23rd with a time of 9:56.42 and Wingate in 24th with a time of 10:12.24. In the 60-meter hurdles, junior Jae Sutherland posted a time of 9.28 to come in 16th during the prelims.
On the women's side, the Lady Braves had several strong finishes with junior Bethany Sanders coming in fifth in the 400-meter with a time of 1:00.40. Freshman Endya Scott also competed in the same event coming in 12th with a time of 1:04.55. In the 60-meter hurdles final, senior De'Kari Courtney came in sixth with a time of 9.84. That was after Courtney qualified during the prelims with a time of 9.46 which was good for seventh. Freshman Akili Pleas-Carne also ran in the prelims coming in 14th with a time of 9.92. Freshman Qua'Neshia Tatyana Hamilton continued her strong weekend as she leapt to a mark of 5.22m in the long jump to place sixth. Junior Kiana Allen added a distance of 4.90m to come in 14th. In the high jump, freshman Americus Knight reached a mark of 1.45m to come in 11th. Sophomore Khiah Williams crossed with a time of 7.90 to come in 15th in the 60-meter. Senior Shameka Grover crossed with a time of 8.12 to place 22nd. Grover also ran in the 200-meter coming in 14th with a time of 26.38. Junior An'Twanique Kinsler crossed with a time of 27.61 to come in 27th. Rounding out the individual results was freshman Samouya Nevers who placed 11th with a time of 2:28.63 in the 800-meter. The women's 4x400-meter relay team came in seventh with a time of 4:05.08.
