BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Freshman field athlete Zayne Palomino represented the Alcorn State University track and field team on the national stage at the 2022 NCAA Division I Men's Outdoor Track and Field East Preliminary meet on Friday, May 27 at Indiana University.
The Kingston, Jamaica native placed 33rd out of 48 competitors, clearing 2.00 meters, .12 shy of his personal record.
Palomino needed to finish among the top 12 to advance to the national championship in Eugene, Ore. Making the top 12 would have seen Palomino clear 2.15 meters.
He recorded his best height at the Southern Miss invite to place third in the competition earlier in the season. He also finished fifth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference with 2.02 meters.
