BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alcorn Volleyball setter
Ramona Pulu has been selected as the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Newcomer of the Week (September 19-25), announced the by league office on Wednesday evening.

Pulu, a 5-foot-10, setter from Henderson, Nevada, tallied 53 assists, 24 digs, four kills and five blocks (assisted) in three matches for the Braves as part of the Tennessee State Invitational last weekend in Nashville, Tennessee. In the process, the Liberty High alum amassed a season-best 27 assists, four digs and a pair of assisted blocks against Belmont in the nightcap of a doubleheader for the Purple and Gold on the opening day of the event.

She opened the TSU Invitational with her first collegiate double-double, recording 19 assists and 11 digs against North Alabama.

Other weekly SWAC award winners for volleyball this week were Brooke Hudson (Florida A&M) as Defensive Player of the Week; Irem Ucar (Florida A&M) as Setter of the Week; and Kylee Owens (Prairie View A&M) as the league's Offensive Player of the Week.
