Keondre Montgomery Collects SWAC Weekly Award

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alcorn's Keondre Montgomery has been tabbed this week's Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the period of January 10-16, 2023, announced by the league office.
 
Montgomery, a 6-foot-7, 200-pound redshirt sophomore forward/center from Jackson, Mississippi, helped power the Braves to consecutive league victories over the weekend at home against Alabama A&M and Alabama State, respectively.
 
The Forest Hills High alum averaged 23.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while shooting 51.9 percent from the field - including 53 percent from three-point territory, over that span. Against Alabama A&M, he poured in 24 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field, while going a perfect 8-of-8 from the foul line. He followed that with a 23-point, eight-rebound effort against Alabama State.
 
The Braves get back to action Saturday, Jan. 14, when the Purple and Gold travel to Texas Southern for a league meeting at 5 p.m.
