BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alcorn Women's Basketball student-athlete
Destiny Brown has been named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Women's Basketball Impact Player of the Week for the period of January 10-16, 2023, as announced by the league office Tuesday afternoon.

Brown, a 6-foot-3 sophomore center from Los Angeles, averaged 23.5 points and 11 rebounds across two games for the Braves this past week. The Southern Nevada transfer shot 57.1 percent from the field against Alabama A&M and Alabama State, respectively.

Brown poured in a game-high 28 points and eight rebounds against Alabama State. She secured six blocked shots to go along with 14 rebounds and 19 points against Alabama A&M, marking her third double-double outing of the season.

For Brown, the SWAC weekly honor was the first of its kind for her this season.

Alcorn gets back to the hardwood Saturday, Jan. 14, when the Braves travel to Texas Southern for a league meeting against the Tigers at 3 p.m., in Houston.
