BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Alcorn's
Dominic Brewton has been named as the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Men's Basketball Impact Player of the Week for the period of January 17-23, as announced by the league office from its headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. This is his first Impact Player of the Week recognition this season.
Brewton, a 6-foot-4, sophomore from Cincinnati, was the catalyst in helping lead Alcorn to consecutive overtime wins in league play this past week. The Dohn Community High alum averaged 23 points per game on 62 percent shooting from the field.
It was Brewton's three-pointer at the buzzer in the second half against Texas Southern that forced overtime and allowed the Braves to collect the road victory.
The Braves get back to the hardwood looking to extend their current win streak to five games on Saturday, Jan. 21, when the Purple and Gold welcome Florida A&M to the Davey L. Whitney Complex for a SWAC affair beginning at 4 p.m. CT.
