BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Alcorn State University indoor track and field teams totaled 13 top-10 event placements, including four top-five finishers on Friday at the Samford Invitational at the Birmingham Crossplex.
Johnny Holloway, III got the Braves going on Friday with a second-place finish in the men's 60-meter dash preliminary round, clocking 6.92 to qualify for the final race. Holloway, a sophomore, also finished fifth in the men's 200m with a time of 22.06.
In field events, the women's team had three Braves in the top 10 in the long jump. Kaylin White leaped for 5.20m to grab fifth place, Qua'Neshia Hamilton landed in seventh place with 5.15m, and Americus Knight took eighth place with 5.14m. Hamilton followed that success in the women's triple jump, taking fifth in the triple jump (11.27m), and Knight took eighth again in the high jump with 1.55m.
On the men's side, J'vontae Noel placed seventh in the triple jump (13.68m), and Terrell White finished ninth in the 400m with a time of 49.87.
Closing out high placements, the women's 4x400 relay team finished sixth at 4:02.68.
