Braves Finish Fifth at Nicholls, Kipkemboi Takes Top Honors

THIBODAUX, La. – Sophomore Kelvin Kipkemboi led the way for Alcorn State University as he took first place at the Nicholls State University Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning. Kipkemboi finished the meet with a top time of 19:50.77. Texas A&M University – Texarkana's Charles Dorsett, II came in second place with a time of 20:33.86 while Alcorn's Alocius Kipngetich rounded out the top three with a time of 20:53.46.

Overall, the Braves finished in fifth place with a team score of 101. TAMU-Texarkana took first place with a score of 46. The host, Nicholls State, came in second with a score of 53. Loyola University (New Orleans) finished third with a score of 73 while Southern University was fourth with a score of 85.

Two Alcorn runners finished in the top 40 as Bethwel Limo with a time of 23:16.68 and Terrell White with a time of 23:28.04. Chemar McGhee finished the race with a time of 24:45.68 and Elijah Moncure came in with a time of 27:45.92.
