THIBODAUX, La. – The Alcorn State University Lady Braves cross country team excelled at the Nicholls Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning. The team finished second overall with a score of 69. Nicholls State University came in first with a score of 29 and Texas A&M University – Texarkana was third with 76.
Senior Stella Kiptui received top honors as she finished first in the race with a time of 18:22.65. 
Teresa Gallegos finished in fourth with a time of 19:26.35. The Lady Braves had two other runners in the top 20 as 
Joyce Kiptum finished 19th (21:35.75) and Nicole Kells, 20th (21:36.84).
Samouya Nevers ended the race with  time of 23:09.30. Mckenzie Patterson and Jade Ceasar finished with times of 24:11.29 and 28:52.21, respectively.
The Lady Braves will be back on the course on Friday, Oct. 13 as they travel to Clinton, Miss. to compete in the Watson Collegiate Classic hosted by Mississippi College.
