LINCOLN, Neb. -- Alcorn State University women's basketball traveled to face the University of Nebraska on Tuesday night. The Lady Braves fought hard but were defeated by the Huskers, 32-79.
Alcorn was led by
Destiny Brown with nine points.
Nakia Cheatham was the rebounder of the night for ASU as she snagged a team high nine boards. Cheatham and
Milia Gibson accounted for five points and two steals each. Zy'Nyia White finished the game with five rebounds while
Kiarra Henderson and
Arene Iyekekpolor tallied four boards apiece.
As a team, the Lady Braves went 12-of-61 from the field, 6-of-8 from the line and had 31 rebounds.
Nebraska had three players in the double digits for points. The team was led by Alexis Markowski with 21 points and nine rebounds. She was followed by Calin Hake with 14 points, seven rebounds, and three steals. Logan Nissley contributed 10 points on the night. Kendall Coley, Kendall Moriarty, and Darian White each had three assists while Natalie Potts had a team high 11 rebounds.
Collectively, the Huskers went 24-of-49 from the field, 25-of-36 from the stripe, and had 52 rebounds.
Alcorn will stay on the road and head to New Orleans, La. on Tuesday, Nov. 21 for a tilt with the University of New Orleans. Tip off is set for 6:30 p.m.
