Box Score LORMAN, Miss. – Alcorn State University women's basketball hosted the University of New Orleans in a midweek match up at the Davey L. Whitney Complex. The Lady Braves fought hard but were defeated 59-83.
ASU was led by Zy'Nyia White with 12 points. She was followed by
Ashanti Backus and
Tyginae Wright with nine points.
Destiny Brown was the rebound leader for the Lady Braves with seven. Wright tallied three assists.
Collectively, Alcorn went 37.5 percent from the field, 58.3 percent from the line, and scored 26 points in the paint.
UNO was led by DeArica Pryor with 22 points and four rebounds. She was followed by Alexis Calderon with 14 points ad Justice Ross with 13 points. Calderon was the rebound leader for the Privateers with eight rebounds. Ross kept the ball moving with five assists.
As a team, New Orleans went 43.8 percent from the field, 66.7 percent from stripe, and scored 12 paint points.
The Lady Braves will be back in action after the holidays on Thursday, Dec. 28 as they travel to Chicago, Ill. to face DePaul University. Tip off is set for 6 p.m.
