GULFPORT, Miss. – Four Lady Braves softball players were named to the Southwestern Athletic Conference Championship All-Tournament team, after Alcorn slugged it out over five contest to make it to semifinal round. Kiri Parker, Mikeria Howard, Kristian Edwards, and Marsha Hunt were all recognized by the conference on Friday.
Parker, a senior pitcher from Vacherie, La., took the circle and some swings during the tournament. With a 1-1 record, she made three pitching appearances with two starts for a .40 ERA. Batter saw a .150 batting average against her. At the plate, Parker had a .250 batting average with two runs, and two hits (one double).
Howard, the freshman designated player, had a .353 batting average throughout the tournament. She played in all five games with four runs, seven hits, and three RBIs.
Edwards, senior outfielder, also played in all five games for .400 batting average. She had five runs and eight hits (one double and two triples) for two RBIs. She also had two stolen bases.
Hunt rounded out the four honorees. The senior first baseman mounded a .316 batting average in the tournament with one run and six hits (one double) for five RBIs.
